Earlier in the year, Amazon Studios abruptly ended its deal with legendary filmmaker cum actor, Woody Allen. It was a four-film deal with the director. The first of which, A Rainy Day In New York is left with no US release at the moment.
When a four-movie deal was struck between Amazon Studios and Woody Allen, it was a dream scenario for the movie lovers. However, things didn’t go as planned when the “MeToo” moment surfaced just as the first project in the collaboration, A Rainy Day in New York was about to release.
A 25-year-old accusation regarding the child molestation on Woody Allen made the Amazon Studios terminate its deal abruptly. With no progress on the release and nothing happening on the remaining films, Woody Allen sued Amazon Studios for 68 Million for breach of contract. He said that Amazon backed out of the deal based on vague rumours, and allegations.
The case is finally settled. The two parties issued a joint statement regarding the same. The terms of the settlement are not known, but it is reported that neither parties have got an edge or can be termed as a winner. While that might be fine with them, the real losers here are the viewers who get nothing from the legend.
