Black Panther fame Letitia Wright is all set to star in a brand new movie titled “Provision”. Wright has been casted opposite Josh O’Connor, who is known for his portrayal of Prince Charles in Netflix’s mega series “The Crown”.
Touted to be two of the major rising stars coming from U.K, Wright and O’Connor have also been awarded with prestigious awards like the BAFTA and The Golden Globes for their impeccable performances earlier.
Coming to the movie, “Provision” tells the story of a young African woman who is on the run from persecution. Later, she ends up in the Ireland Asylum System, but with constant threats of deportation. Though her time there is the hardest, she befriends a security guard, played by O’Connor who seems to understand her problems and the plight she is in.
With time, they grow closer but the constant fear that they are in from the people of asylum regarding her deportation keeps them away. In a system that is so ruthless and harsh, where people are turned into a mere number, both these young people try to find a way out.
Frank Berry, an award winning director whose last movie “Michael Inside” showed the world Ireland’s penal system will be directing “Provision”. Provision looks like another break through movie that will show the world issues that the Irish system has had over years regarding asylum seeking. The situation has always been worse when there are immigrants of color.
Asylum seekers are sometimes given the most comfortable place to stay and given the situation they are coming from, anything remotely good brings these people happiness. Things end there for a lot, as people wait a lifetime for their documents to arrive or even get accepted. The trauma is unreal, as mentioned by many human rights activists.
“Provision” starts its shoot from April and as of now there has been no release dates announced for the movie.
