Lift: Netflix’s New Star-Studded Heist Movie Looks Like Epic Fun

Netflix has just dropped the first trailer for its upcoming heist flick ‘Lift’, along with its release date. The star-studded action-packed movie premieres on Netflix worldwide on 12th January, 2024.

‘Lift’ involves a gold heist that must be pulled off mid-air, at 40,000 feet above the ground. An international heist crew, led by master thief Cyrus Whitaker (Kevin Hart), must steal $500 million worth of gold from a plane. The gold is headed to be delivered to a terrorist organisation, and Cyrus and his band of robbers must lift the gold mid-air, at the behest of the FBI. It’s that or jail for the motley bunch.

The ‘Lift’ trailer is sleek and fast-paced, and introduces us to the interesting characters in the movie. The cast of ‘Lift’ is what makes the film an exciting proposition. The film stars Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, Sam Worthington, among others. Indian viewers will be specially stoked to watch Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó in the film. The actress is quite popular in India, after her breakout role as Tokyo in Netflix’s own ‘Money Heist’.

The film is directed by F. Gary Gray, who’s earlier helmed films such as The Italian Job, The Fate of the Furious (Fast And Furious 8), among a host of others. The official synopsis of ‘Lift’ reads,
“A master thief is wooed by his ex-girlfriend and the FBI to pull off an impossible heist with his international crew on a 777 passenger flight from London to Zurich”.
