Lightyear Trailer 2: Buzz Goes To ‘Infinity and Beyond’ Stars Chris Evans

The idea of a standalone animated Lightyear project was revealed at 2020’s Disney Investor Day with Chris Evans lending his voice to the character. But a lot of people thought that it was nothing but a path to total havoc. The most prominent space ranger of the Star Command first emerged in Pixar’s Toy Story (1995). Then, we witnessed an animated film, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins, and a spin-off television series based on the fictional character five years later. After being a crucial part of the iconic Toy Story series, Buzz has returned once again. However, fans will get a fully developed backstory of the character this time. Plus, the makers have dropped the second trailer of Lightyear. Here’s what we know about it so far.

Trailer 2 delves deep into the origin tale of Buzz Lightyear. First, we see him in his early training academy days and his friendship with Alicia Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba). But everything in his life turns upside down when he ‘hyperlaunches’ through a mysterious portal, causing him to lose almost 62 years of his life. Now, the evil Emperor Zurg has taken over his world with his army of advanced robots. On the other hand, Buzz encounters Alisha’s granddaughter, Izzy Hawthorne (Keke Palmer), and the rest of her gang. They will ensure the universe’s safety by taking down Zurg for good.

The forthcoming Pixar intergalactic adventure project has Angus MacLane as helmer. Apart from his directional duties, he has also written the film’s script with Jason Headley. This is what he said in a statement to the fans some time ago:

“Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about. In Toy Story, there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my Lightyear pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”

Pixar will dispatch Lightyear on June 17th. It stars Chris Evans, Keke Palmer, Dale Soules, Taika Waititi, Peter Sohn, Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, and many more.
