Oh, yes! You read that right! Lionsgate Television is developing a series based on Stephanie Meyers’ The Twilight Saga novels. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming adaptation is in early development.
Meyers’ globally prominent vampire novel series has been adapted into a film series, consisting of Twilight (2008) and its sequels – New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012). Lionsgate is yet to find a streaming platform for the series adaptation.
The duo of Erik Feig and Wyck Godfrey will serve as the series’ executive producers. Feig is the former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-head, and Godfrey produced all five Twilight flicks under his production banner, Temple Hill.
The film franchise, “The Twilight Saga”, has helped strengthen the careers of stars like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner. It has minted over $3 billion at the global box office.
It seems like Lionsgate is following in the steps of Warner Bros Discovery after the latter announced the series adaptation of the iconic Harry Potter film series about a week ago.
Sinead Daly will write the script for the forthcoming Twilight series. She is best known for her work in Raised by Wolves, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Tell Me Lies, and The Get Down. Additionally, multiple reports have confirmed that Meyer is expected to be a part of the series adaptation. Stay tuned for more updates.
