Live Action Moana Film In The Works At Disney

The Walt Disney Studios have just announced a live action version of their own beloved animated movie, ‘Moana’. The announcement was made last evening, at the Disney shareholders meet for quarterly results. The Walt Disney Studios is developing the remake in association with Dwayne Johnson as producer, who was also one of the stars in the original Moana.

The original animated Moana was released back in 2016. Now, barely nine years later, Disney has announced the live-action remake of the film. As per information revealed by the film company, all the original characters are slated to make a comeback in the Moana live action remake.

At least one actor from the original voice cast of Moana is confirmed to return in the remake. And it is none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who played the role of short-tempered, shape-shifting demigod, Maui, who sets off with Moana on her epic journey.

The live action Moana is being produced by Dwayne Johnson, via his Seven Bucks Productions, along with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Beau Flynn is also producing, via his Flynn Picture Co. Jared Bush, screenwriter of the original Moana, returns to write the remake, along with Dana Ledoux Miller. Auli‘i Cravalho, voice of Moana in the original, will executive produce the remake, along with Scott Sheldon of Flynn Picture Co.
