Film buffs who were anticipating a leisurely watch of long-awaited film ‘Cobalt Blue‘ this weekend are in for a shock. The film was to premiere on Netflix today afternoon. Netflix had announced the premiere of Cobalt Blue some time ago ago. However, to the utter disappointment of viewers, Cobalt Blue has not kept its date with Netflix this afternoon. The film stands postponed, with no new release date announced yet. Netflix has not disclosed any reason for postponing Cobalt Blue.
True blue film buffs have been eagerly waiting for Sachin Kundalkar’s ‘Cobalt Blue’. The film was announced several years ago, exciting fans of the novel of the same name it is based on. But the film failed to see the light of day. Then Netflix came into the picture and acquired the film for streaming on its platform. It had announced Cobalt Blue as part of its Indian Original slate last year, that is in 2020.
It’s been more than the a year since then, and viewers are still waiting for Cobalt Blue to release. The film is an adaptation of Sachin Kundalkar’s own 2006 Marathi novel of the same name. ‘Cobalt Blue’ centres on a captivating drama that follows an unconventional narrative. Based on a best selling novel, the film tells the story of a brother and sister who fall in love with the same man and how their family is shattered by the ensuing events. Set in the early 90s, the film explores the various shades of a relationship and love.
Cobalt Blue stars Prateik Babbar along with Neelay Mehendale and Anjali Sivaraman in lead roles. The film is directed and written by Sachin Kundalkar. Here’s hoping that ‘Cobalt Blue’ will arrive on Netflix, sooner rather than later.
