‘Lost’ Lead Actor to Star in Apocalyptic Thriller Series ‘Last Light’

American actor Matthew Fox, best known for essaying the principal character of Jack Shephard in the cult series ‘Lost’ will reportedly (via Variety) star in a series based on Alex Scarrow’s apocalyptic thriller book ‘Last Light’. Also starring alongside Fox will be the Golden Globe award-winning ‘Downtown Abbey’ actress Joanne Froggatt.

‘Last Light’ would be a limited series comprising five episodes. The book revolved around an engineered global oil crisis that shatters the world of an oil engineer Andy Sutherland, who is desperate to reach his wife and children. How the family endeavours to survive in a world thrown into nightmarish chaos forms the rest of the plot.

Matthew Fox will play the role of one of the world’s best petrochemical engineers Andy, who has the skills to avert the impending global disaster. While Joanne Froggatt plays Fox’s wife who gave up her professional pursuits to find a cure for her son’s eye disease and shares a strained marital relationship with her husband.

‘Last Light’ miniseries will be helmed by Dennie Gordon, who had previously directed shows like legal drama ‘Goliath’ and ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’. The series has been written for the screen by ‘The Blacklist’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’ writer duo John Zinman and Patrick Massett. The veteran writers also co-wrote the screenplay for the Angelina Jolie starrer 2001 film ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’.

‘Last Light’ series will commence filming in various international locations including the central European city Prague starting from September last week. Besides acting in the series, Matthew Fox will also act as one of the executive producers for the series.

Since the release of ‘Lost’, Matthew Fox has been selective in his acting projects. The talented performer’s last on-screen appearance was back in the year 2015 in the gut-wrenching Western film ‘Bone Tomahawk’ starring Kurt Russel.
