The teaser of Shawn Mendes’ upcoming musical comedy project, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, is out now! Helmed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, this cinematic adaptation of Bernard Waber’s novel has Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, Scott McNairy, and Brett Gelman in the cast apart from Mendes.
Mendes plays Lyle, a crocodile with exceptional singing talent. After having some troubles, he becomes a close member of the Primm family who resides on East 88th Street in New York City. On the other hand, Bardem portrays Hector P. Valenti, the charming owner of Lyle. Everyone at first thinks that Lyle is a horrible animal. But their mind changes after they witness his real and sweet side. Although, there is one neighbour, Mr Grumps (Brett Gelman), who strongly believes that he belongs in a zoo.
Viewers will see Lyle overcoming various obstacles to achieve his dream of becoming a singing sensation in the upcoming film. Also, he will prove that he is not as bad as others think. During this time, he befriends Josh Primm, the youngest member of the Primm family.
The directional duo of Will Speck and Josh Gordon is well-known for helming flicks like Blades of Glory (2007), The Switch (2010), The Power Inside (2013), and Office Christmas Party (2016). Apart from helming Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, the duo is set to direct another comedy film, Distant, with Anthony Ramos, Naomi Scott, and Zachary Quinto in the cast.
Columbia Pictures and Eagle Pictures have produced Shawn Mendes’ Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile with Sony handling the film’s distribution. It will come out on October 7. Stay tuned for more updates.
