The film has recently roped in Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal as the main lead along with Eliza Scanlen, Thomsan McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Ken Leung. Although, like most of his projects, no details about the characters they’re playing or the story of the film have been revealed, we know that M Night Shyamalan himself will be writing, directing and producing his untitled next.
The film was due to release on July 23rd, 2021 originally but due to the pandemic the studio has taken it off its calendar. The production might start later this year if the necessary permissions and safety measures are taken.
Previously, Shyamalan directed acclaimed hits such as ‘Glass’, ‘Split’ and ‘The Visit’ which cumulatively grossed more than $600 million worldwide.
The film will mark Garcia Bernal’s entry into big-budget films after mainly being seen in indie dramas such as ‘Rosewater’, ‘Babel’ and most recently Netflix’s ‘The Wasp Network’.
