This Diwali will see a clash between some hugely anticipated Tamil films making this festive season a star-studded affair. The major scheduled Kollywood theatrical releases currently are Silambarasan‘s ‘Maanaadu’, Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaatthe’ and the latest to join the race, the Arya-Vishal starrer ‘Enemy’. This blockbuster fest seems to be getting bigger by the day with strong rumours that Vikram’s ‘Mahaan’ is also looking to hit screens during the same time. The first film to confirm a Diwali release, ‘Maanaadu‘ will hit screens on 4th November and the trailer has just dropped earlier this morning.
Fans have been anxious for an update on the trailer and the wait is finally over. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘Maanaadu’ is a political thriller that explores the concept of time loop, where we see actor Silambarasan’s character living the same day, on repeat, trying to change the outcome each time. ‘Maanaadu’ sees a stellar ensemble cast comprising Simbu in the lead with SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan,SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles. The trailer is intriguing to say the least and promises to be a power-packed entertainer with an interesting premise.
Director AR Murugadoss and actors Nivin Pauly, Nani and Rakshit Shetty took to social media to release the film’s trailer in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada, respectively. While the film is titled ‘Maanaadu’ in Tamil and Malayalam, it’s named ‘The Loop’ in Telugu and Kannada. Although a big release, the Simbu starrer will have to face a clash with some major, high profile Kollywood releases, especially with one being a Rajinikanth film. Only time will tell if these big-ticket films eat into each other’s profits. Regardless, viewers are surely in for a treat with this Diwali theatre bonanza!
