R Madhavan and Shraddha Srinath starrer Maara is going to skip its theatrical released and stream online on Amazon Prime Video from tomorrow. It is the official remake of Malayalam blockbuster, Charlie (2015) starring Dulquer Salman. The team is trying to give some push to the film at the last-minute with some aggressive promotions.
In an interview, the director Dhilip Kumar had revealed an unknown fact. “Maara is the first HDR Indian content on Prime that is going release. It is also the first Tamil film with Atmos Mixing to release on Prime. This will enhance the experience of the audience in the film-watching. We have ensured HDR only because of digital platforms. Otherwise, theatres are not equipped for HDR yet,” the director revealed.
The trailer of the film looks like a scene to scene remake but the team is claiming to have made many changes. They are calling it an adaptation of Charlie. This is Madhavan’s second OTT release after the Telugu movie, Nishabdham which also released on Amazon Prime Video. Nishabdham bombed badly back then and it has to be seen if Maara can be different. The movie has been in production since 2016 and has been delayed due to various reasons.
