Dhanush’s Maaran was released yesterday on Disney+Hotstar. It was highly anticipated particularly by Dhanush fans. The film was not only released in Tamil but also in Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. This linguistic diversity has definitely strengthened the number of viewers that the film can garner.
However, the reviews it received are pathetic. The film came out to be absolutely boring and not worth any time. But at least the film was expected to trend at the top 5. Unfortunately, it is failing to do so. The response to the film is so poor that it is nowhere to be seen in the top trending list.
If you happen to notice closely then Turning Red which is mostly limited to kids is trending at number 1 while Maaran is way behind at number 15. The response is so pathetic that not so great movies like Eternals and Tadap are much higher.
Even Dhanush’s own Atrangi Re, which was released on Christmas Eve last year is higher. It is absolutely pathetic for the film and is a huge turndown from the audience. Yet again, it is a clear message to the makers that the audience needs content and quality much more than mere star-factor. In the long run, it is anyways going to be beneficial for our Indian film industries to make greater and better films.
