Madame Web’s BO Fate Looks Dismal, May Not Even Surpass Morbius

The forthcoming SSU instalment, Madame Web, is all set to arrive in theatres globally on February 14. And its box office fate does not look very good. Early box office predictions from Deadline have teased a grim future for the upcoming Sony project in terms of box office collections.

As per Deadline, Madame Web may collect $25-35 million domestically in its first six days. In addition, the Dakota Johnson starrer looks to target viewers who are under 35 years old. The film’s estimated opening weekend collection is even lower than Morbius, which opened with $39 million in the US and Canada. This scenario makes Madame Web’s future gloomy at the box office.

Although, a lot depends upon how the S. J. Clarkson directional performs in foreign countries. The first two SSU entries, Venom (2018) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), performed exceptionally well at the global box office, with the majority of their collections coming from regions outside the US and Canada. Both flicks minted nearly $642.5 million and $293.3 million in other territories during their respective theatrical runs. Even Morbius managed to earn $93.6 million from foreign regions. Madame Web may repeat a similar pattern and collect a decent figure from other territories. Still, the movie may not turn into a profit, given its rumoured budget of $80-100 million.

In addition, there is a noticeable lack of enthusiasm among superhero fans for Madame Web, possibly contributing to the subpar promotional efforts by Sony for the film. It is possible that the film may fail to surpass Morbius’ global collection of $167.5 million. Let’s see what happens! Helmed by S. J. Clarkson, Madame Web stars Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, and Tahar Rahim. Stay tuned for more updates.
