Mahaan is clearly the biggest release on Prime Video this February. The streaming giant was scant on any big Indian title right from the beginning of 2022. But it looks like they are finally back to the game with 2 back to back releases.
As the Deepika Padukone starrer Gehraiyaan is scheduled to release tomorrow at midnight i.e. 11th February. But just like most big titles on Prime Video, Mahaan also dropped before the schedule.
Instead of 12:00 AM on 10th February, the movie was dropped at 10:00 PM on 9th February itself.
This is a well-known trick on Prime Video that they do with almost every big Indian title. They did it with Mirzapur 2 and The Family Man 2 as well.
But this is convenient for fans nonetheless. They get to witness their awaited film a few hours ahead of the actual release and it definitely helps in increasing the viewership as a lot of people rush to watch the movie.
We cannot be sure if the same happens with Gehraiyaan as the platform does not make any official announcement prior to the sudden release.
