Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan made his much awaited debut yesterday. His Netflix movie ‘Maharaj’ was released all of a sudden when the Gujarat High Court gave its verdict in the favour of the makers.
The movie is getting some good reviews, but most of the audiences are quite on the same page about the performances in the film. They think that Junaid Khan’s performance is too theatrical and that his dialogue delivery is not natural at all. The performance of other actors too seems to be forced. The only satisfactory performer is Jaideep Ahlawat, quite naturally.
While the movie is definitely bold and courageous, the execution has totally leveled it down. Audiences think that ‘Maharaj’ had huge potential and the hype was perfect for its release. Even the court case and the controversy acted in favour of the film but ‘Maharaj’ failed to deliver. Had it been another movie, it could have been as big as ‘Bandaa’. You can remember how the makers of Bandaa were compelled to release the film theatrically after the awesome response on OTT.
Audiences whole-heartedly support the movie’s content and Karsandas Mulji’s story, but many think that some other actor could have pulled it off better than Junaid Khan. His acting looks like he is in a high-school drama and it does not match the level of the antagonist Jaideep Ahlawat even a bit.
