Mahesh Babu‘s ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ did good business at the Telugu box office, in the two states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Elsewhere, the Telugu film didn’t exactly set the ticket windows on fire. Sarkaru Vaari Paata, however, did decent business overseas in the U.S., given the prolific Telugu population there.
Those who missed watching Sarkaru Vaari Paata in the theatres, the Mahesh Babu starrer is now available to watch on Prime Video, albeit in the pay per view format in its newly minted Prime Video Rental Store. Digital viewers can watch the film in high definition resolution, at a one-time cost of ₹199. Only the original Telugu version of Sarkaru Vaari Paata is available to stream as of now. Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi dubbed versions may be available at a later date on Prime Video.
One thing that has taken us by surprise is the speed with which Sarkaru Vaari Paata arrived on digital – within 3 weeks of its theatrical release. That is arguably very early for a big ticket film such as Sarkaru Vaari Paata, with a big star such as Mahesh Babu, to release on OTT. The norm for mid-budget films these days is an OTT release after a four-week theatrical window. Six weeks is the bare minimum for a big ticket film like Sarkaru Vaari Paata to release on OTT.
By our estimates, Sarkaru Vaari Paata should premiere on regular subscription-based OTT on Prime Video on June 17, after 14 days of streaming on pay per view.
Telugu film Sarkaru Vaari Paata is written and directed by Parasuram. It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, 14 Reels Plus and G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment. The film stars Mahesh Babu, Keerthy Suresh, Samuthirakani, Vennela Kishore and Subbaraju in pivotal roles. Thaman has given the music for Sarkaru Vaari Paata.
