Mahima Chaudhary who has recently survived cancer is now coming back to the big screen with Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming biographical drama ‘Emergency’. Marking Kangana Ranaut’s second directorial feature after ‘Manikarnika’, ‘Emergency’ is slated for a 2023 release.
Mahima Chaudhary will star as Pupul Jayakar in ‘Emergency’ and her first look from the film is quite convincing. The subtle smile and the grace oozing from her face is something to take note of and admire.
Pupul Jayakar was an Indian cultural activist and writer, best known for her work on the revival of traditional and village arts, handlooms, and handicrafts in post-independence India. She was a friend and biographer to both the Nehru-Gandhi family and J Krishnamurti.
Jayakar was close to three Indian Prime Ministers, namely, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. But it’s was her bond of friendship with Indira Gandhi that made the latter express her feelings to her. Pupul Jayakar also wrote Indira Gandhi’s biography titled ‘Indira Gandhi: An Intimate Biography’.
Apart from Mahima Chaudhary, ‘Emergency’ stars Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Bhumika Chawla and Satish Kaushik in prominent roles.
‘Emergency’ marks Kangana Ranaut’s second directorial feature after ‘Manikarnika’ and is slated for a 2023 release. ‘Emergency’ is written and directed by Kangana Ranaut herself and has begun filming. Based on true events that unfolded in 1975, the film chronicles incidents that took place under the leadership of Mrs. Indira Gandhi, one of the most powerful women in Indian history.
‘Emergency’ is presented by Manikarnika Films and is produced by Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut. Ritesh Shah has penned the dialogues and screenplay for ‘Emergency’.
