“Maid” On Netflix Can Be The Next Best Female Led Series!

Netflix is a hub for content that supports women. It has always come forward in showing its support by bringing ground-breaking female-led content, and films, series, documentaries created by women. Netflix is continuously experimenting and bringing newer subjects and topics into the market that earlier probably wasn’t talked about. Netflix also has been the leading streaming platform to grab the rights for many upcoming series and films, and one amongst them is “Maid”, stylized as “MAID”. Maid, set for October 1st release definitely is the next woman-led release, which is ready for Netflix’s audience.

“Maid” is based on the groundbreaking, New York Times bestselling memoir “Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive” written by Stephanie Land. The series is created by Molly Smith Metzler and stars Margaret Qualley and Nick Robinson in the lead roles. Anika Noni Rose, Andy Macdowell, Tracy Vilar, and Billy Burke play pivotal roles in the upcoming series. Maid on Netflix shows the troubles of a single mother and what she has to do to keep her daughter with her and to have their very own house.

The story follows Alex, a young woman who is blessed with a beautiful baby girl but sadly is stuck with an abusive partner. Alex, who had everything planned out in her life, once upon a time and highly educated girl with a college degree now is looking for jobs like being a maid or cleaner. Nick Robinson plays Sean, the abusive partner in Maid, and is completely unrecognizable. While Alex struggles to keep up with the changing world around her, Sean takes the matter to court to get custody for his daughter. Alex might be alone in this fight, but she is not the one to back down, especially when it comes to her daughter.

The great part of the story that we can assess from the story is the women in “Maid”. The lives of various women that Alex comes across in her journey will be the focus and how they change her life. From the owner and helper of the shelter homes of victims of violence to the ones assigning her jobs to the ones who are hiring her and the ones, she is befriending. Everyone in some way or the other tells her not to give up and to fight back, for the sake of her daughter, for the sake of finding happiness and getting a house for her daughter. Every woman in some way other, only pulls her up, with some random tugging of pulling her down. This has to be the best part of the Maid without a doubt.

Maid comes from the producers of “Shameless” and Academy Award-winning movie “Promising Young Woman” and judging from these two amazing series and film, we can guarantee “Maid” will be nothing less. Maid definitely looks like it will become the series that shall be appreciated for the story and concept, and not to mention the real-life struggles of the author herself, who went through all, before coming up with her Memoir.

As mentioned above, Maid hits Netflix and the 1st of October. You can watch the absolutely inspiring trailer here:
