Two big films were coming to the big screens on the 10th of April. We are talking about Ajay Devgn starrer Maidan and Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff led Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
They had decent buzz and the big stars only helped to amplify it. Now, there are strong reports suggesting the fact that both those films have been postponed.
Yes, you read it right. Now that only two days are remaining for the film, they stand postponed. The reason?
Eid.
It was presumed that the moon would be sighted on the 9th of April, so people could celebrate Eid on the 10th. Now, the moon sighting has been shifted to a day later. Thus, the release date of the film has also been postponed to a day later.
The news is a sort of setback to the fans who had already pre-booked the tickets for the 10th. But, the makers can’t possibly negate the commercial angle of the film as they have to ensure big numbers at the box office. The pre-booking has been stopped but, both the films will show paid previews from 6 PM onwards on the 10th in select theatres.
This kinda thing is very new to India as we don’t have a culture of paid previews unlike that in the American industries. Let’s wait to see the kind of impact this decision has on the box office figures of the films.
