Maidaan Trailer: Uniting The Nation Through The Beautiful Game

The much eagerly awaited Ajay Devgan starrer, Maidaan, has just dropped its official trailer, on March 7th 2024. After an unabated delay, the movie is finally set to appear on the silver screens on the auspicious occasion of Eid, in April 2024. The newly released trailer, presents Devgan as playing the character of Syed Abdul Rahim, the venerated mastermind responsible for driving the legacy of Indian football, in its golden era spanning from 1952 to 1962.

At its directorial helm is Amit Ravindernath Sharma, and he seems to have pulled all the right strings in guaranteeing an emotionally investing yet epic narrative around the highs, lows and the brutality of the sport. The roughly 3 minute long trailer gives us a good enough glimpse of the hardships encountered, and how they attempt to navigate through it all with Devgans character leading them all the way. The movie signifies Rahim’s vital role in the formative years of Indian football. He embodies great inspiration and motivation and his legacy remains unmatched even after 6 odd decades of playing this beautiful game.

Despite facing certain hindrances in regards to the completion of the film with the outbreak of COVID-19, and with the Cyclone Tauktae destroying the set in 2021, the movie, much like its titular character, has persevered through it all and has come out with great pride and grandeur. The movie features a stellar cast of Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh as well. Noteworthy is the fact that the music for the film is handled by the great A.R Rahman, so you are in for a treat in all senses of the word.
