‘Maja Ma’: Trailer, Release Date, Streaming Platform, Cast, Plot

By Binged Bureau - Sep 22, 2022 @ 01:09 pm

Amazon Prime Video has dropped the trailer of its Madhuri Dixit starrer upcoming original movie ‘Maja Ma’ and it’s about a woman and her identity beyond gender stereotyped roles. Helmed by Anand Tiwari, ‘Maja Ma’ will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 6th October, 2022.

Maja Ma’ trailer begins with Tejas (Ritwik Bhowmik) introducing his family where his father (Gajraj Rao) is a simple man who struggles with English language and his sister (Srishti Shrivastava) is someone who keeps getting into trouble. It only his mother Pallavi (Madhuri Dixit) who according to him is just perfect. She is a quintessential, middle aged, devoted housewife who is equally famous for her dance as for her cooking.

Meanwhile, Tejas is in love with a rich NRI girl (Barkha Singh) and wants to marry her and his family supports his decision. The girls parents are also convinced for the marriage despite the status difference. Everything was going well until a surprisingly shocking revelation about Pallavi comes to light.

Some controversial video of hers surfaces online that leads to calling off of the engagement and much more family drama. It’s then that Pallavi reaches out and tries everything in her capacity to save her son’s marriage all the while fighting for her identity not just as a wife and mother but also as an individual.

‘Maja Ma’ is an Amazon Original movie directed by Anand Tiwari and written by Sumit Batheja. It is a warm, funny story set in Baroda about a loving mother who unwittingly becomes a hurdle to her son’s marriage plans and contests societal norms.

The film marks Madhuri Dixit’s second OTT project after ’Fame Game’ on Netflix that was quite a success. The film also stars Ritwik Bhowmik (‘Bandish Bandits’, ‘Modern Love Mumbai’), Barkha Singh (‘Engineering Girls’, ‘Silence… Can You Hear It?’), Srishti Shrivastava (‘Ok Jaanu’, ‘Gully Boy’, Gulabo Sitabo’), Gajraj Rao (‘Badhaai Ho’, ‘Lootcase’), Rajit Kapur (‘Rocket Boys’, ‘Nail Polish’), Sheeba Chadha (‘Mirzapur’, ‘Badhaai Ho’), Simone Singh and Ninad Kamat among others.

Produced by Leo Media Collective ‘Maja Ma’ will premiere only on Amazon Prime Video on 6th October, 2022.
