Malayalam Mojo: Jio Cinema’s Malayalam Movies Marathon For Film buffs!

In a spectacular treat for film buffs, Jio Cinema is bringing the unique ‘Malayalam Mojo’ – a film marathon that will feature delectable Malayalam films for viewers to stream, watch and enjoy. Over a period of two weeks and more, Jio Cinema will premiere 6 blockbuster Malayalam films for digital viewers to watch and enjoy.

es to strong plot lines, stellar performances and meaningful cinema. That is the reason why the importance of Malayalam films is on an exponential rise, especially now, when more regional films are releasing on streaming platforms than ever before.

Now, Jio Cinema celebrates Malayalam cinema with its upcoming Malayalam movie festival – Malayalam Mojo. The movie marathon kicks off from 18th June, and brings an eclectic selection of films directed by stellar filmmakers such as Jeethu Joseph, Rosshan Andrrews, and featuring the best performers in Malayalam and Indian cinema, such as Mohanlal, Nivin Pauly, Siddharth, among others. These movies, straddling genres such as period dramas, comedies thrillers and satire, definitely need to be on every movie lovers’ must-watch list.

Here’s the full list and release dates of the Malayalam films that will stream on Jio Cinema in Malayalam Mojo –

Kayamkulam Kochunni – 18th June

Kayamkulam Kochunni is a period drama, starring Mohanlal, Nivin Pauly and Priya Anand, and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Nivin Pauly plays the titular role of the legendary 19th century Robin Hood of sorts, Kayamkulam Kochunni, who robbed the rich and gave to the poor. Mohanlal’s role in the film received accolades all around. The film is a box office hit and the third highest grossing Malayalam film of all time.

Kammara Sambhavam – 19th June

Kammara Sambhavam is a satire and thriller, directed by Rathish Ambat, and starring Dileep, Siddharth, Murali Gopy and Namitha Pramod. Academy Award winning sound designer Resul Pookutty has worked on the sound design of the film. Kammara Sambhavam features an intriguing story shot in the style of a film within a film. It tells the story of an immoral man Kammara, whose life changes irrevocably when he meets Subhash Chandra Bose and joins the Indian freedom struggle. It is an innovative film that has won numerous National and State awards.

Clint – 25th June

Clint is a moving drama directed by Hari Kumar, music composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and featuring Master Alok, Unni Mukundan, Reema Kalingal, Vinay Forte in pivotal roles. The movie tells the profound and inspiring real-life story of Edmund Thomas Clint, the child prodigy, who left the world at the age of seven, leaving behind around 25,000 drawings and paintings.

Puzhayamma – 1st July

Puzhayamma is a direct to digital release. The film has skipped theatres and is releasing directly on digital on Jio Cinema. The uplifting social drama film is directed by Vijeesh Mani, and stars Baby Meenakshi and Linda Arsenio. The film tells the inspirational story of how a 13-year-old girl (Baby Meenakshi) gets together with an American tourist (Linda Arsenio), and fight to save a polluted river from dying. The film is completely shot in a river, a first in world films statistics.

Mr. and Ms. Rowdy – 4th July

Mr. and Ms. Rowdy is a rollicking comedy film starring Kalidas Jayaram and Aparna Balamurali, and directed by Jeethu Joseph, the award winning director of Drishyam fame. Appu (Kalidas Jayaram) and his friends are a bunch of petty goons, who spend their time cheating and looting people. Appu’s life undergoes a drastic change when a simple homely girl Poornima (Aparna Balamurali) comes into his life during one of his gooneries.

Kuttymama – 7th July

Kuttymama is a heartwarming comedy drama, directed by V M Vinu, and starring Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan. Sreenivasan plays the titular role of Kuttymama, a retired military man, who has become the resident village nuisance because of his silly antics and goofing around. However, something happens to make the entire country proud of him and stand up in respect of him.
