Lately, SonyLIV has been teasing us with Malayalee From India. Needless to say, it is a Malayalam film and Mollywood films are a rage these days. So after two months of getting released in India, we finally have a solid update on the OTT release of the film.
SonyLIV has a very strong foot in the Malayalam industry and most of the films from Mollywood somehow land on SonyLIV itself.
Regardless, Malayalee From India is directed by Dijo Jose Antony. Despite good reviews, the film managed to earn less than 20 crores at the box office. It could do far better than what it did.
The movie stars Nivin Pauly who has been in need of commercial success for a long time now. It stars Dhyan Sreenivasan and Anaswara Rajan along with Deepak Jethi and Shine Tom Chako.
So what is the story all about?
Aalparambil Gopi lives in Mullakara, Kerala, playing cricket and campaigning for a nationalist party with his friend Malghosh. He falls in love with Krishna.
After a violent clash in the village, Gopi is sent abroad to work in a desert with a Pakistani supervisor, Sahib. Initially, they clash, but bond after Gopi contracts COVID-19 and Sahib cares for him. Sahib dies from COVID-19, and Gopi visits his family in Rawalpindi, encouraging his daughter Dua to study.
