Mani Ratnam Drops New Updates About Ponniyin Selvan Duology!

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam is currently in the headlines because of his upcoming magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. The film stars Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Karthi, and more in titular roles.

Although the makers started the promotions very late, they are still working well on it. Talking about the duology, Mani Ratnam shared some details about the films which were not known before.

People might be assuming that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays the villain in the story while Vikram is the hero. But the film also shares the POV of the book series. It does not have any positive or negative roles, rather all the characters are gray. It makes the film even more interesting because in real too, we rarely come across absolutely good or evil people but a mixture of the same.

Mani Ratnam said, “There are no superheroes in this. There are no definite villains in this. They’re all people who have grey shades. It’s like an Alexandre Dumas. That’s the way I see it. It’s an adventure, it is intriguing, and it’s fascinating characters. It’s meant for the big screen.”

Talking about the upcoming part of the duology, Mani Ratnam says that Ponniyin Selvan 2 will release within 6-8 months. It is an extremely important update as the filming of both the parts as completed and all we wait for is the films to hit the screens.
