Manoj Bajpayee was last seen in the critically acclaimed and hard-hitting courtroom drama ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’, which was released directly on the Zee5 OTT platform earlier this year. The film got such a rousing response from the audiences that it made everyone, including Manoj Bajpayee himself, think that the film should have first been released in theatres and then on OTT. However, that didn’t happen.
But the good news for cinema lovers is that the ‘Satya’ actor’s next film ‘Joram’ is all set for its theatrical release sooner than expected. Earlier, it was reported that ‘Joram’ will be released in cinemas on 1st December, and in that case it would have clashed with the two biggies ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’.
But as per the latest update, the makers have ostensibly altered the release date for ‘Joram’. The eagerly anticipated movie will now reportedly be released in theatres a week later, that is, on 8th December. So, ‘Joram’ will now face a box-office clash with Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Merry Christmas’ and Sidharth Malhotra’s action flick ‘Yoddha’. This seems to be a much better release date for ‘Joram’ because these three films have their own target audience. Official confirmation is still awaited in this regard.
Directed by ‘Bhonsle’ helmer Devashish Makhija, the film features Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a desperate father who is on the run with his little daughter to save her from his dark past and from the people who want him dead at any cost. It also features Zeeshan Ayyub in an important role of a cop.
Before its forthcoming theatrical release, ‘Joram’ had impressed audiences at various film festivals like International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR), Busan International Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival, etc. The film received appreciation in these fests and that’s why the anticipation factor around ‘Joram’ is quite high. Let’s see whether it lives up to the expectations or not.
