Marathi Film ‘Unaad’ To Release Directly On Jio Cinema

Marathi film ‘Unaad‘ is one of the most awaited films for viewers who enjoy watching Marathi films. The film has garnered laurels at film festivals, and had a grand premiere at the MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai. The makers of ‘Unaad’ were aiming for a theatrical release for the film, but then the Covid-19 lockdown and subsequent slow down of theatres put paid to their plans. Now that the film has been ready for a couple of years, the stakeholders have decided to skip theatres and release the film directly on OTT.

We at Binged have got you confirmed information on the OTT release date and platform for ‘Unaad’. The Marathi film will premiere on 8th July, on fast-rising OTT platform, Jio Cinema.

‘Unaad’ has been helmed by well-known director, Aditya Sarpotdar, who’s earlier helmed the first ever zombie film in Marathi ‘Zombivli’, and also the popular web series, ‘The Raikar Case’. Unaad is described as a coming-of-age story, centred on three young men from the Koli community of West Maharashtra, and a life-changing phase in their lives.

The film stars Ashutosh Gaikwad, Hemal Ingle, Abhishek Bharate, Chinmay Jadhav, Sandesh Jadhav, and Devika Daftardar in pivotal roles. ‘Unaad’ is presented by Jio Studios, and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Ajit Arora, Chandresh Bhanushali and Pritesh Thakkar.

The official synopsis of ‘Unaad’ reads – “A coming-of-age story about three teenagers from Harne, a small coastal fishing town in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. Shubya Bandya and Jameel are three friends who while away their time roaming around town and have no aim in life. The locals consider them the scoundrels of the town as these boys are known to get into trouble. This is the story of that phase in their lives that changes them forever.”
