Leading global research, insights, and technology company Market Xcel has recently published a comprehensive report revealing the rankings of the top brands operating in India across different categories. The report is a result of many months of research and analysis across the length and breadth of the country.
As per the Market Xcel 2023 report – Colgate, Amul, Maruti, Pepsico, Parachute, Amazon, Lakme, Surf, Samsung, and Haldiram have bagged the top brand spots for the industry categories namely Personal care, Food (CPG), Automotive (4-Wheeler), Beverages, Haircare, E-commerce, Cosmetics, Homecare / Laundry, Mobile phones, and Restaurants, respectively.
Other than the above-mentioned industry categories, the Market Xcel 2023 report also covers the top OTT brands in India. Five OTT platforms have come out on top as per the report. They are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, and Voot. Can you guess which OTT platform is the topmost brand as per the report?
With a lion’s share in the OTT segment, it’s the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform which has emerged as the top OTT brand in India as per Market Xcel. The second and third top OTT brand spots have been bagged by Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, respectively.
Moreover, Viacom 18’s streaming platform Voot has been placed on the fourth spot followed by the Zee5 OTT platform, which is on the fifth rank.
Disney+ Hotstar getting the top OTT brand honor by Market Xcel has come at a time when the streaming company is nearing its much talked about deal expiry date with Home Box Office (HBO). Consequently, premium HBO shows like ‘The Last of Us’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Succession’, etc. will cease to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting from 31st March.
Disney+ Hotstar’s top OTT brand win reinstates the audiences’ hope that the OTT giant will bounce back soon despite the recent setbacks including losing out on IPL 2023 rights and not streaming the F1 2023 season as well.
