Marriage Story And The Irishman Puts Netflix In Strong Position

Netflix is not only looking at critical acclaim but also awards for its big-ticket outings, wherever they sense a chance. They are giving a limited theatrical release to some of its key films, for this specific reason only.

Earlier in the year, Netflix won huge at the Oscars with its distributed title Roma. It was a first for the streaming giant. The response and the thrill seem to have driven them to set up multiple projects with similar ambition.

Netflix is now betting hugely on two of its productions Marriage Story and The Irishman to get the Oscars. Both the movies are currently screening in cinemas in limited locations. However, more than that, they have received massive critical success. It is what boosts their chances and puts them in a strong position for the upcoming awards season, including the Oscars.

Marriage Story is a Noah Baumbach film starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. It has already made it to many festivals and got praises, all over. The actress is among the front runner for the Best Actress Oscar trophy.

The Irishman is coming together of cinematic geniuses and icons like Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino and Robert Deniro. It is a gangster drama that is said to be riveting despite the run time of nearly three and a half-hour.
