Only Murders In The Building had its Los Angeles premiere on Monday, hosted by the leading trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. These distinguished performers disclosed intriguing details about their respective characters in the upcoming Season 2.
Short revealed to Deadline that the forthcoming season would explore his character Oliver Putnam’s complicated relationship with his son, Will (Ryan Broussard). “Certainly, I have a lot of unresolved issues with my son that is explored this year,” the actor said.
Broussard continued, “This season, we dive deeper into the background of the father/son relationship. We flashback a little bit throughout Season 2 and you really see that relationship develop. You can also expect to see some secrets unfold.”
On the other hand, Gomez has affirmed that Season 2 will be a wild ride for her character Mabel Mora. Fans will witness Mabel confronting her past in addition to handling her love life with Alice (Cara Delevigne). “For Mabel, you get a glimpse into her personal life with her father and her growth in general,” Gomez divulged.
Apart from all this, Zoe Colletti will play the character of Zoe, the teen stepdaughter of Oliver Putnam. She will also befriend Mabel.
The show’s co-creator, John Hoffman, guarantees that Season 2 will be more exciting than the first one as the stakes are higher than ever. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel will discover new things and hidden secrets about one another. And yes, their friendship will get tested.
Season 1 revolves around the trio and their obsession with a true-crime podcast. The shocking death of Tim Kono inspires them to start their podcast, Only Murders In The Building. Later, the trio discovers that Tim’s death is murder, not suicide. Things get twisty after the group finds out that Mabel was a former close friend of Tim.
