Marvel Actor Gives Huge Update on Chloe Zhao’s ‘Eternals’ Sequel

When the star-studded Marvel superhero movie ‘Eternals’ came out last year in November, the film received underwhelming mixed feedback from the critics and audiences. On the brighter side, ‘Eternals’, helmed by Oscar winning director Chloe Zhao, still managed to gross over $400 million at the box office and was appreciated for its visual opulence and themes.

Having said that, considering the critical feedback, it was almost assumed that a potential sequel to ‘Eternals’ was out of the question. Well, that was then. But it turns out now that the doubtful sequel is on the cards. Because, Patton Oswalt, who voiced the character of Pip the Troll (as Thanos’ brother Starfox’s assistant) during the film’s mid-credits scene, has recently spilled the beans about the ‘Eternals’ sequel.

Oswalt, who will next be seen in upcoming Netflix series ‘The Sandman’, has revealed via The Today Show that the ‘Eternals’ sequel is indeed under development and will be helmed by Chloe Zhao. He stated that “They have announced there’s going to be an Eternals sequel, Chloe Zhao is going to direct it. So hopefully there will be more adventures of Starfox and Pip.”

Until this point, an ‘Eternals’ sequel seemed highly unlikely but with Patton Oswalt’s latest statement, it’s apparent that Marvel might be keeping the news a secret for some reason and official confirmation might be out whenever they think it’s appropriate.

Helmed by Chloe Zhao (of ‘Nomadland’ fame), ‘Eternals’ follows a team of titular immortal superheroes who have been secretly living on Earth with humans for thousands of years. However, after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’, they must come out of hiding and use their special powers to protect mankind from Deviants – powerful ancient beings. It features an ensemble cast that includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, and Kumail Nanjiani. ‘Eternals’ is streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform.
