Marvel In Trouble As VFX Artists Petition For Labour Union!

Remember how Marvel VFX Artists are accused of being heavily overworked and terribly underpaid? Sadly, no one raised a voice against their oppression.

Looks like their days of tolerating atrocities are now over.

VFX crews at Marvel Studios have taken a significant step by voting to form a union, as announced by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) on Monday.

The decision comes after a majority of the crew counting 50+ individuals, expressed their desire to be part of the union by signing authorization cards. Mark Patch, who plays a role in organizing VFX workers for IATSE, stated the fact that for nearly half a century, VFX workers have been excluded from the rights and advantages enjoyed by their colleagues in the film industry.

This marks a groundbreaking initiative as it’s the first time VFX professionals have rallied together in such a manner.

This decision by VFX workers coincides with a broader wave of union activities occurring this time. As you may already know, writers and actors are currently engaged in significant strikes, seeking to improve their working conditions and secure their rightful rights.

The move to unionize by Marvel’s VFX crews sends a powerful message, highlighting the growing awareness and determination within the entertainment industry to address longstanding disparities and advocate for the well-being of all professionals contributing to its success.
