A few months back, it was announced at the San Diego Comic Con 2022 event that Marvel’s upcoming ‘Blade’ reboot movie was set to be released on 3rd November 2023. The superhero movie will feature two times Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book), who will essay the titular role of the vampire hunter, originally portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the Blade films trilogy (1998-2004).
As per the latest update regarding the ‘Blade’ reboot (via The Cosmic Circus), the Marvel Studio’s venture will finally kick-off its filming schedule from 5th October. The filming info is in tune with the earlier Comic Con update about commencement of the movie’s filming in the month of October.
For the unversed, Blade is a popular Marvel Comics character created by Mark Wolfman and Gene Colan. He was portrayed in the comic books as the vampire hunter whose mission was to eliminate all the vampires that existed in the world.
The live-action 1998 hit film ‘Blade’ featured Wesley Snipes in the lead role as a revenge-seeking half-vampire half-human whose mother had died of a vampire bite. The film was followed by two sequels namely ‘Blade II’ and ‘Blade: Trinity’.
The new ‘Blade’ reboot is set in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and Bassam Tariq was roped in to direct the film. Besides Mahershala Ali, the upcoming ‘Blade’ movie would also feature English actor Aaron Pierre (‘The Underground Railroad’, ‘Old’), and Delroy Lindo (‘The Harder They Fall’, ‘Da 5 Bloods’).
Some time back, ‘Blade’ was also in the news because of ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Kit Harrington’s speculated return in the film by reprising his role of Dane Whitman (as Black Knight) which he had essayed in the star-studded Marvel superhero movie ‘Eternals’. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Marvel’s ‘Blade’ reboot movie.
