You can’t prevent disaster for long as the Indian audience won’t be spared from the wrath of this Sony disaster, Madame Web. Previously, it was totally rejected by the theatrical audience and was butchered in terms of ratings, Its VOD performance also isn’t good anyway.
But most hardcore Marvel fans won’t really miss anything; this is in their DNA. So, to satisfy their cravings, it is now swinging from the west to the east. Madame Web has just entered the VOD space in India.
Prime Video has listed Madame Web for sale on VOD, and it is now available to rent. The price tag for the streaming is ₹249, which is definitely too high for a film like this. Firstly, most fans have already watched it on the big screens, and if someone hasn’t visited the theaters, they have the patience to wait until it’s available on simple OTT platforms.
It is also available on YouTube Store and Google Play Movies with the same price point.
To talk about the plot, in 1973, Ezekiel Sims discovers a healing spider in Peru but betrays his team. Thirty years later, Cassie gains precognitive abilities after a near-death experience. She saves three girls targeted by Ezekiel. Cassie learns about her mother’s past and confronts Ezekiel, ultimately defeating him but losing her sight and mobility. Despite her injuries, Cassie embraces her new role as a mentor to the girls, guiding them in their future events.
There is not much reaction from the fans as it is evident they aren’t willing to pay for the VOD, and waiting for its OTT release is definitely a more viable option. A 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.8 on IMDb forecast a grim outlook if you are considering watching it.
