Marvel’s Secret Invasion: Top Fan Theories That May Come True

With Secret Invasion, the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks to follow in the footsteps of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) by touching some political elements, leaning more on physical action, and appearing darker than previous MCU shows. Overall, the upcoming Samuel L. Jackson starrer feels like a dark (but much-needed) departure for the MCU from the ongoing Multiverse-mania.

We are less than three months away from getting Secret Invasion on the Disney+ streaming platform. And it will be cool to address some of the best fan theories that have gained notable prominence on social media. Let’s check out some of them!

Secret Invasion may set the stage for The Marvels

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel shares a close relationship with some Skrulls, including Talos, proving that not all Skrulls are bad. Her superhero character may make a cameo appearance in Secret Invasion, providing some much-needed aid to Nick Fury, who wants to take on the bad Skrulls that have infiltrated the Earth on his own. It was Captain Marvel who first informed Fury about the existence of Skrulls. That’s why her addition to the series makes sense. Plus, her cameo role may set up The Marvels, scheduled to release in November 2023.

Return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

One of the clips released by Marvel Studios from the upcoming series shows Fury saying, “Cavalry’s on its way”. To those of you who do not know, Cavalry is one of the nicknames of Agent Melinda May, who was part of Phil Coulson’s team in the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” show. Fans may witness May making her MCU debut in Secret Invasion. After all, Fury needs all the help he can get. Additionally, May’s return could pave the way for other S.H.I.E.L.D agents, including Daisy Johnson.

The Kree-Skrull war

In the comics, Skrulls are notorious for infiltrating numerous planets and strategically uprooting their establishments or governing bodies. They decide to conquer Earth as well, forcing Nick Fury to come down to Earth and stop them from wreaking havoc on the planet. However, many fans believe that Secret Invasion could touch on other plot points as well.

Remember when Talos and Soren revealed their actual Skrulls selves in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)? Seems like a long time ago, isn’t it? But that very moment could set up Secret Invasion. And yes, the forthcoming MCU series will not be as lighthearted as Far From Home.

The Kree-Skrull war storyline is considered one of the best storylines in the history of Marvel Comics. It can define MCU for years to come. What series other than Secret Invasion can serve as a perfect introduction for this iconic storyline? It is possible that a large-scale war between the Kree people and the Skrulls has commenced in a distant location of the universe that is not known to the Avengers and or the inhabitants of Earth-616. And now, the Skrulls have landed on Earth-616. It means their war may arrive with them on the planet as well.

Secret Invasion will release on Disney+ Hotstar on June 21. It stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle, and Martin Freeman. Stay tuned for more updates.
