Masaba Gupta is her own woman. The fiery designer, whose personality shines through in the psychedelic colours of the vibrant clothes that she designs, will now bring her infinitely interesting life on screen, with her very own show on Netflix, called ‘Masaba Masaba’.
The show ‘Masaba, Masaba’ will be one of India’s top designers Masaba Gupta’s very own series, where she will share snippets on herself, her struggles, her rise to the top as a designer and a peak into her life.
Masaba took it upon herself to announce the news on her Instagram handle. The announcement was accompanied with a video showing Lana Condor, the lead actress of PS: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, warmly welcoming Masaba to the Netflix family. Check it out below.
Masaba’s mother, actress Neena Gupta, will also make an appearance on the show. Masaba Gupta will expound on a lot of topics that were simply the subject of gossip mills over the years — her relationship with her father, celebrated West Indian cricketer Viv Richards, for instance. For the uninitiated, Masaba Gupta was born to Neena Gupta when the latter fell in love with the already-married Viv Richards. Undaunted, Neena dared to go against convention and give birth to Masaba, despite knowing that she’ll have to raise her as a single unwed mother in a harshly judgemental society.
Whether Masaba’s show will delve deep into the matter, or just skim the surface of it — or maybe even sidestep it altogether — is something we’ll have to wait and watch. Even besides that fact, Masaba’s life is an exceptionally inspiring one for young people looking to make their mark in the world of fashion.
Masaba Masaba will be the first close look into the designer’s real life. The series has been directed by Sonam Nair and produced by Ashvini Yardi.
