Massive Cast For Netflix’s ‘Don’t Look Up’ Gets Even Bigger!!

Adam McKay’s upcoming political satirical disaster film has become star studded to the extreme! The film which was supposed to go into production back in April 2020 and then get released later this year; that plan had to be scrapped because of the ongoing pandemic. Still, during this time McKay was able to add to his cast (with acting heavyweights), making Netflix’s Adam McKay project, a star-studded affair.

Jennifer Lawrence signed on to join the disaster film on Feb 19th, while Cate Blanchett agreed to join the movie by May 12th. Rob Morgan joined by September. By the time October rolled around, ‘Don’t Look Up’ got incredible additions in Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Himesh Patel, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, and Tomer Sisley. Last month Tyler Perry, Melanie Lynskey and Ron Perlman joined the cast as well. And just a few hours ago Chris Evans too decided to join the already robust cast (Are we seeing a weird repeat of the casting of Spiderman 3 somehow?).

The Netflix film will follow Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo Dicaprio who will portray two low level astronomers. They discover a colossal asteroid hurtling through space, heading towards Earth. The scientists embark on a vital “media tour” to warn the world of the impending doom. Both DiCaprio and Lawrence have been spotted on the movie’s Boston film set. Meryl Streep is going to play the President of the United States, with Jonah Hill portraying her Chief of Staff as well as her son. Roles for the other prominent stars haven’t been disclosed as of yet.

Meryl Streep said that the entire film will be a satirical take on the current world as well as climate change, similar to the Stanley Kubrick 1964 film ‘Dr. Strangelove’ – which took a satirical look at the cold war between the US and the Soviet Union. This film will also be one of the first comedy films Jennifer Lawrence will be a part of. Finally, after years of demand from her fans to do a comedy flick (and after a self-imposed break from acting for around 2 years), the actor decided to join Netflix’s ‘Don’t look Up’.

Adam McKay is well known for his comedy and satirical work. We are expecting this Netflix feature to elevate him to a status of filmmaking which not much filmmakers can reach or have reached. The film does not have a release date, but we are hoping it will be around midway of next year.
