Today, 8th February 2024, US streaming platform Paramount Plus premiered the much-awaited Season 2 of science fiction drama series ‘Halo’. Two episodes of Halo Season 2 have begun streaming in most regions of the world where Paramount Plus content is available to watch. Halo Season 2 has opened to good reviews all around.
Unfortunately, for Indian fans of the series, Halo Season 2 is not streaming anywhere on Indian OTT. There is also no chance of it streaming in India soon.
Technically speaking, the new season of Halo should stream on Jio Cinema in India. For those who don’t know, Jio Cinema has entered into a tie-up with Paramount Plus under which Paramount content will stream on Jio Cinema in India. Jio Cinema even has a dedicated Paramount Plus hub on its OTT platform.
To add to that, ever since it premiered in the US, Halo Season 1 has been streaming in India — first on Voot Select (owned by Jio Cinema) and now on Jio Cinema. So it’s quite surprising that Halo Season 2 is not streaming in India, and will not, in the near future too.
Queries raised on Jio Cinema’s social media handles by impatient fans about the streaming date of Halo in India have received a standard stoic reply from Jio Cinema – “We do not have rights for Halo Season 2 on our platform”.
Huh! It’s quite surprising to know that Jio Cinema doesn’t have rights to Halo Season 2. Whatever happened to the deal with Paramount Plus for streaming all of its popular content on Jio Cinema in India?
Quite a messy situation, if we must add our two cents to the issue. Fans of Halo in India are desperately waiting for the Halo Season 2 OTT release date in India. But there’s no information whatsoever on the matter – neither from Jio Cinema nor from any other streaming platform in India.
