It just takes one person to create history. Cinema was never this easy and accessible as it is in 2023. Back in the 1910s when India was fighting for survival, independence and self-respect, one man stood up to make films and the rest is history. He was Dadasaheb Phalke, popularly named the Father of Indian Cinema.
We have seen tons of biopics in Indian cinema. A lot of them like Mahanati, Sanju and more were based on Indian film personalities. But it took SS Rajamouli to announce a film on Dadasaheb Phalke.
Well, better late than never. In 1913, the inception of Indian cinema was marked by the groundbreaking work of filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke. His creation, “Raja Harishchandra,” is considered India’s first-ever full-length feature film. Dadasaheb Phalke, a prolific figure in the history of Indian cinema, held the roles of both screenwriter and director. His illustrious career spanned the production of 27 short films and over 90 full-length movies. Recognized and revered as the ‘Father of Indian cinema,’ he left an indelible mark on the industry through his significant contributions. Currently, the highest honour in Indian cinema is the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
The film will be directed by Nitin Kakkar who has films like Notebook and Jawaani Jaaneman in his hat. It’ll be produced by Varun Gupta and SS Karthikeya.
