If you are a fan of Matthew McConaughey, then we advise you to take this news with a grain of salt. A new report from Puck has revealed the actor’s status in the much anticipated Yellowstone spinoff series. The upcoming Season 5 Part 2 will culminate the main storyline of the Yellowstone franchise. Moreover, several spinoffs (prequels and sequels) are currently in the developmental stage.
McConaughey joined the Yellowstone spinoff series in April 2023, which was supposed to be a sequel to the main series led by Kevin Costner. According to Puck, the Interstellar actor may not star in the spinoff project at all. The magazine’s Matthew Belloni believes that McConaughey is out of the picture now. It is possible that Hollywood veteran Kurt Russell may end up replacing McConaughey for a spinoff series called The Madison. Alongside Russell, the series will reportedly feature Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams.
According to some reports, things have gone sour between McConaughey and showrunner Taylor Sheridan. The former demanded too much money for the show. Whatever may be the real reason behind this scenario, McConaughey’s absence is certainly a big blow to Sheridan and his team.
According to TVLine, the upcoming spinoff, The Madison, will revolve around a wealthy matriarch, Stacy Clyburn (probably played by Pfeiffer) and her family as they shift to Montana from the fast-paced New York City after hearing about the tragic demises of her husband and brother-in-law. Stay tuned for more updates.
