Everyday a new addition to an already stellar star-cast! Well we are talking about Christopher Nolan‘s magnum Opus Oppenheimer. The latest addition to the stacked star-cast is Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of The Dead’ fame Matthias Schweighöfer.
Oppenheimer, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and late Martin J. Sherwin has Cillian Murphy playing the theoretical physicist Robert Oppenheimer whose work in the Manhattan Project led to the invention of the atomic bomb. He is credited as the “father of the atomic bomb”, for the good or bad. The film takes on the paradox that is the life of the eminent scientist who had to risk destroying the world amidst a World War in order to save it.
Matthias Schweighöfer joins an ensemble cast for the history books led by Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek and Benny Safdie. Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Krumholtz, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian and Jason Clarke also joined the cast. Josh Peck was the latest entry to the star-cast before Schweighöfer. However details on who he would play is still not revealed much like most of the other names above.
Speaking of Schweighöfer, who had his big break in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead playing Dieter, had a recent release in Netflix’s Army of Thieves (a spin-off to his character in Army of The Dead) and also is cast in Netflix’s ‘Heart of Stone’ fronted by Gal Gadot.
At an estimated budget of $100m, Oppenheimer is distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures. Christopher Nolan wrote the script himself and also co-produces with Emma Thomas and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
As of now Oppenheimer, whose production is underway will release worldwide on July 21, 2023. A notable fact is that the release date is around two weeks before the anniversary of Hiroshima Atomic bombing. Stay tuned for more updates.
