Marvel Studios may have announced the cast of Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four casually (via a Valentine’s Day-themed post). But for the MCU fanbase, it is a huge deal as they have waited for nearly four years since the movie’s announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Now, it looks like the fans have discovered a major detail about the movie’s storyline.
The Valentine’s Day-themed art used to reveal the cast of The Fantastic Four shows Marvel’s first family sitting together and having a great time. We can see The Thing reading a copy of Life Magazine. Upon looking closely at the cover, we will find that it is the issue of the magazine that came out on December 13, 1963, featuring former US President Lyndon B. Johnson on the cover. It means that the events of the upcoming Matt Shakman directional will take place during the 1960s.

The Fantastic Four comic book series debuted in 1961. That year, John F. Kennedy Jr. became the US President. However, his presidency term did not last long, as he was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Lyndon B. Johnson took JFK’s position at the Oval Office after the latter’s tragic demise.
In addition, Issue #4 featured Namor the Sub-Mariner, and the next issue introduced the one and only Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four has a stellar cast consisting of talents like Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm, aka Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm, aka The Thing). It will arrive in theatres worldwide on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
