Recent Bollywood releases (Hindi originals) have been supremely successful at winning the audience’s heart. It’s safe to say that the dry spell caused due to Covid has come to an end!
The ones making headlines these days are Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Gangubai Kathiawadi. This what their performances look like –
Bhool Bhulaiyaa
Released on 20th May, Bhool Bhulaiyaa is currently running in the theatres with quite a number of housefull shows. It is the sequel of super hit film Bhool Bhulaiyaa, belonging to the horror-comedy genre. It has already become a post-covid hit and is also the highest opener of Kartik’s career. It’s first day box office collection was Rs 14.11 crore! Wow!
The movie has already collected Rs 65 crore in just 4 days and is looking at around 90 crore by the end of this week.
Post its run at the theatres, it will most likely release on OTT giant, Netflix.
Gangubai Kathiawadi
Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt’s collaboration exceeded the expectations. This biographical drama opted for a theatrical release and reached theatres on 25th February in India. It earned a whopping Rs 10.50 crore at the box office on its opening day. Around mid April, the film’s collection from India was over Rs 153 crore and around Rs 55 crore from abroad. Gangubai Kathiawadi crossed the 200 crore mark in less than two months!
Post the theatrical release, this Alia Bhatt starrer started streaming on Netflix, on 26th April. Soon, it paved its way to the Top 10 list on Netflix in India, Canada, UK, and over 15 other countries. This movie continued to be in the India’s top 10 for several weeks, surpassing a good number of acclaimed titles.
