Francis Ford Coppola is one of the most renowned filmmakers of our times. He has made the legendary ‘Godfather’ movies, ‘Apocalypse Now’ and many other films. So when he announced he will be returning to the industry with a new film, there was quite a buzz. Francis Ford Coppola’s next movie ‘Megalopolis’ was announced some time ago and now he Announces that a graphic novel by him will be released at the same time.
Reportedly, the cast includes actors like Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter and Talia Shire. Cinematography of the film would be handled by the wonderful Mihai Mălaimare Jr. who has made much contribution to the industry. Beautiful visuals are a great reason to watch Coppola’s films too. The film will be an epic science fiction that will most reportedly tell the story of a woman in New York in near future. The father of the woman is a man of classical thought, but her lover is more progressive and future-ready and has radical ideas of change. We will have to see the movie to know whether the ambitious architect would be able to rebuild the city of New York into a Utopian Megalopolis. Coppola’s return after such a long time is a huge event for fans and the film is definitely worth waiting for as it is directed by ‘The Godfather’ director.
The graphic novel will be based on the same story and it will be written by Coppola himself. Artists Chris Ryall and Jacob Phillips will be helping him with their art. Coppola follows the example of Quentin Tarantino who released a novel of the same name after the huge success of ‘Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood’. The fanbase of novels, graphic novels and films are different and if the quality is good, one helps in increasing the other.
