Megastar’s OTT Dream: Already Dead Before Launch?

At the Kuberaa success meet, Megastar Chiranjeevi made an interesting comment that is worth talking about. He expressed his desire to explore OTT and web-based films. While everyone would love watching Chiranjeevi in an OTT film, the recent filmography of the actor screams that he isn’t ready for experiments.

The Megastar has done only commercial films with usual dance numbers and action.

This is where the problem begins. OTT audiences are very different from regular cinema-goers. They expect fresh ideas, unique storytelling, and bold performances. Take the case of Sector 36.

It worked a big time on OTT even though there were no commercial aspects and Vikrant Massey is anything but a crowd puller.

An OTT film starring a legend like Chiranjeevi will naturally come with high expectations. It won’t be cheap either, it will require a big budget. And if it follows the same old formula with songs, fights, and over-the-top drama, it will most likely be trolled or ignored.

What makes it trickier is that the OTT format doesn’t usually work with typical mass films. It needs solid writing, strong characters, and actors willing to take risks. Chiranjeevi’s clear lack of interest to try something out of his comfort zone makes it unlikely that any major OTT project will come his way soon.

For now, his OTT dream seems more like a wish than a real plan. Unless there’s a big shift in his approach.
