Meghna Gulzar’s Next After Chhapaak Is a Web Series

Raazi-filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, who’s made it a point for her film stories to have immediate reference to real-life incidents, is having her fingers crossed ahead of the release of the Deepika Padukone-Vikrant Massey starrer Chhapaak on January 10. But she seems to have her hands full for the later part of 2020 as well.

Apart from a biopic film featuring Vicky Kaushal which will go into production in 2021, she is also working on a web series based on the life of Rakesh Maria. For the uninitiated, Rakesh Maria was the former Commissioner of Mumbai Police who had traced the culprits behind the blasts in Mumbai in 1993 and 2003. He was also one of the interrogating officers of Ajmal Kasab, the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008.

The web series, however, is only its pre-production stages. Meghna Gulzar in a recent interview had revealed that she is still studying the case files of Rakesh Maria. She’s currently adapting them into a web-series narrative and making sure the show is packed with rich details and a strong emotional hook. The details about the cast and crew are awaited.
