Arjun Kapoor’s rom-com Mere Husband Ki Biwi has finally arrived on OTT (currently streaming on JioHotstar). Want to know about the reviews? Well, it’s safe to say they’re not looking good. Wait, who are we kidding? They’re brutal, guys!
A lot of hope was riding on the release of Mere Husband Ki Biwi, as some experts believed it could breathe new life into Kapoor’s fading acting career. But that didn’t happen. In fact, this movie might have further complicated things for the Ishaqzaade actor.
Apart from Arjun Kapoor, this rom-com stars Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar. While the film was marketed as a light-hearted rom-com with a twist, the truly unforeseen twist was the nature of the reactions it received online.
The movie centers on Ankur (Kapoor), a Delhi realtor who is healing from a difficult divorce and developing feelings for a new woman (Singh). However, his progress is disrupted by the unexpected return of his ex-wife (Pednekar), who has amnesia and genuinely believes they are still happily married.
What follows is a messy love triangle filled with wedding preparations, flashbacks, and countless contrived misunderstandings.
Helmed by Mudassar Aziz, Mere Husband Ki Biwi also tanked during its theatrical run, earning just over INR 12 crores. Now, its OTT release has turned out to be a disaster as well. Here are some of the reviews from viewers who’ve watched the film on JioHotstar.
I might have taken the sheen away from my well curated Letterboxd account by rating mere husband ki biwi. Tbf that movie shouldn’t even be on Letterboxd to begin with.
