Aha Video is coming up with a brand new series on its platform, an anthology of short stories. The series is called ‘Metro Kathalu’, translated as Metro Stories, and it will feature four short stories from the writings of acclaimed Telugu writer, Mohammed Khadeer Babu. Metro Kathalu will premiere on Aha Video on 14th August, to take advantage of the Independence Day weekend.
Metro Kathalu will feature four stories from two novels of short story of Khadeer Babu. Selfie, Proposal and Tegalu from his eponymous 2013 book of short stories, Metro Kathalu; and Ghatana from his 2017 work, Beyond coffee, will be translated from book to screen in Metro Kathalu.
The anthology series has been directed by Palasa director Karuna Kumar. Each story of Metro Kathalu is of 20 minutes each. The stories are an attempt by the Hyderabad based writer to understand women and the daily struggles they face in a largely patriarchal society.
Bigg Boss contestant Ali Reza plays the lead role in Metro Kathalu. Nakshatra, who acted in Palasa and Aha Video’s own Geetha Subramanyam 2020, plays the leading lady in this web series. Rajeev Kanakala, Gayatri Bhargavi, Sana Shanoor, Nandini Rai, Thiruveer are some of the other actors who are part of the anthology series.
We had earlier informed our readers that Aha Video head honcho Allu Aravind is on a spree to commission a slew of Aha Video Original Series and Original Films. Metro Kathalu is the result of that endeavour. Palasa director Karuna Kumar is under contract to create three pieces of content for Aha Video, of which, the first is Metro Kathalu.
