Xiaomi is set to launch their Mi TV Stick on August 5th of this year. The company announced it’s product launch earlier this week, through a teaser on it’s twitter account under the hashtag #PlugItMakeItSmart. The Mi TV Stick was already been released in Europe earlier this month in the Global Ecosystem Management Programme.
Xiaomi launched this product to rival Amazon’s Fire TV Stick which was launched in India back in January 2019. The product can be connected to any TV (or smart TV) through the HDMI port and will allow the usage of OTT apps such as Netflix, Amazon or even Disney + Hotstar on their normal TVs (even if the Smart TV couldn’t previously install them). It will also have Android TV available for download on Google Play Store.
The Xiaomi Stick also comes with a remote support for easy User Interface and also has voice controlled support through Google Assistant. The device comes with a second full HD (1920/1080) resolution which will run at 60 frames per second which will we based on Android TV Pie. The Mi TV Stick will also allow Chromecast on your viewing device along with Full HD Streaming. Xiaomi also launched the Mi Box 4K in India earlier this year.
Other than popular streaming services such as Hostar + Disney and Netflix, the device also allows the download of over 5000 other apps such as games and other social media services. The Mi Stick has a smaller form compared to the box version they released earlier and is comparatively much easier to carry and use. You can disconnect and connect to any non-smart HDTV to have instant access to your favourite shows and movies. THere is a seperate button on the remote itself for Netflix and Amazon.
The Mi TV Stick has been priced by Xiaomi at 39.99 Euros (equivalent to Rs. 3400). It will launch at 12:00 pm IST on August 5th in India on Xiaomi’s official website.
