Fresh off the heels of his critically acclaimed performance in Antoine Fuqua’s 911 thriller ‘The Guilty’, Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in multiple film projects and a major one amongst them is Michael Bay’s upcoming action flick ‘Ambulance’. The film was initially slated for a theatrical release on 18th February 2022. However, as per a recent update (via Deadline), ‘Ambulance’ has now been pushed back to 8th April 2022.
The postponement has ostensibly happened after the multi starrer action thriller film ‘Bullet Train’ had recently vacated the April 2022 date. As per the previously scheduled release date, ‘Ambulance’ was set for a box office clash with Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s adventure film ‘Uncharted’. However, after this release date shuffle, ‘Ambulance’ will now be set for a face-off with the sequel to the comedy-adventure film ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’.
Helmed by Michael Bay, ‘Ambulance’ is a heist thriller in which Jake Gyllenhaal essays the role of a hardened criminal Danny, who comes up with a plan to rob a bank with his brother William Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who portrays a war veteran in desperate need of money for his wife’s operation. But things soon go awry, and the two robbers steal an ambulance with a paramedic and a critically injured cop.
Considering Michael Bay’s literally explosive filmography comprising movies such as ‘The Rock’, ‘Armageddon’, ‘Transformers’, and the more recent ‘6 Underground’, audiences should expect some thrilling, adrenalin pumped action sequences in ‘Ambulance’ as well.
Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be one of the busiest Hollywood actors nowadays. Besides ‘Ambulance’, the ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ actor’s forthcoming projects include the pandemic-based thriller ‘The Division’, crime drama mini-series ‘The Son’, survival thriller ‘Suddenly’, and comic-book based superhero flick ‘Prophet’, amongst other announced projects.
